New Renault Austral: Prices and Specifications Announced

The new Renault Austral E-Tech hybrid SUV will be priced from £34,695, the French carmaker has announced.

Three trim levels will be available with mid-range techno esprit Alpine models costing from for £36,695 and range topping iconic esprit Alpine models priced from £39,495.

Renault’s replacement for the Kadjar comes with advanced technology that includes up to 35 apps, the ability to plot a route and operate home devices with voice control, and up to 30 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and four multi-sense settings that offer a variety of driving styles as well as Renault’s third-generation 4-wheel steering system, 4Control Advanced.

All versions feature a frameless automatic rearview mirror, sliding centre console armrest, sliding rear bench seat and an automatic dual-zone air conditioning with air purifier.

Renault says the Austral has 35 litres of internal storage space and up to 555 litres of boot capacity.

Onboard features include a 12-inch multimedia screen, a 12.3-inch driver information display, a 9.3-inch head-up display and a range of Google services including Google Maps, Google Assistant, and access to Google Play.

The Austral E-Tech is powered by a new 197bhp petrol hybrid powertrain with a 400V 1.7kWh lithium-ion battery. Renault says that to 80 percent of driving time on urban roads is possible in full-electric mode, which translates into urban cycle driving requiring 40 percent less fuel than a combustion motor.

Official fuel consumption figures are up to 60.1mpg with emissions of 105g/km and the hybrid system is self-charging with no need to plug-in.
